Korean convenience store brand CU celebrated the opening of its 200th location in Mongolia. After entering the country 4 years ago, the retailer has risen to the top spot in the industry with a 70% market share and 80% sales growth over last year.

According to the published press release, CU manages a daily customer traffic of 1,000 per store. Its coffee brand “Get Coffee” also contributed to the popularity, with an estimated sales of 200 cups per store.

“The CU brand aims to reach 1.6 million customers in the capital. To this end, we aim to open stores in other locations outside the city center to provide more accessible services to citizens. Currently, 87 branches are open 24 hours a day,” said Chinzorig Ganbold, CEO of Central Express CVS JSC.

For the opening of the 200th branch, a special event was organized for customers and special promotions were announced. These included a 50% discount on its GET brand of coffee and a 20% discount on select food items such as French hot dogs and the CU-branded sandwich.
