Defense Minister Rajnath Singh begins five-day visit to Mongolia, Japan

New Delhi [India]Sep 4 (ANI): Defense Minister Rajnath-Singh “> Rajnath Singh will embark on a five-day visit to Mongolia and Japan on Monday to strengthen strategic partnership and defense cooperation with East Asian countries. ‘Is, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Sunday.
Taking to Twitter, rajnath-singh”>Rajnath Singh said, “Looking forward to visiting Mongolia and Japan September 5-9 to engage with our allies and partners. I will attend the 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue in Tokyo.”
“India seeks to enhance defense cooperation and advance regional security and stability,” he added.
According to the Ministry of Defense, rajnath-singh”>Rajnath Singh will visit Mongolia from September 5 to 7, 2022.
The upcoming visit is the first-ever visit by an Indian defense minister to Mongolia and will further cement the defense cooperation and strategic partnership between the two countries, the ministry’s official statement said.
During his stay in Mongolia, rajnath-singh”>Rajnath Singh will hold bilateral talks with Mongolian Defense Minister Gursediin Saikhanbayar.
During the bilateral talks, the two defense ministers will review bilateral defense cooperation between India and Mongolia and explore new initiatives to further strengthen bilateral engagements. The two leaders will also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
rajnath-singh”>Rajnath Singh will also visit the President of Mongolia, U. Khurelsukh and the Chairman of the Great State Khural of Mongolia, G Zandanshatar.
India and Mongolia share a strategic partnership and defense is a key pillar of this partnership. Both democracies have a common interest in fostering peace and prosperity throughout the region.
Bilateral defense engagements with Mongolia have expanded over a period of time to include numerous contacts between the two countries, including Joint Task Force meetings, military exchanges, high-level visits, reinforcement programs capabilities and training and bilateral exercise programs.
Upon his arrival in Japan, the Minister of Defense will participate in the 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue in the capital Tokyo.
Recently in the weekly presser, Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said, “The 2+2 with Japan is something we are looking at.
Highlighting the 2+2 talks as a reflection of close coordination and collaboration with Quad partners as well as bilateral partners, Bagchi described the meeting with Japan as crucial as it is one of the few countries with whom India is conducting a 2 + 2 ministerial dialogue.
Earlier, Bagchi called the India-Japan 2+2 ministerial meeting an opportunity to review security cooperation between the two nations.
India-Japan 2+2 will be the second such meeting between the two countries since the inaugural meeting of the India-Japan (2+2) Foreign and Defense Ministers’ Dialogue was held on November 30, 2019 in New Delhi.

Ministers affirmed that this dialogue will further enhance the strategic depth of bilateral security and defense cooperation. Recognizing emerging security challenges, Ministers reiterated their commitment to advancing bilateral security cooperation based on the 2008 Joint Statement on Security Cooperation and the 2009 Action Plan to Advance security cooperation.
