Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visits Mongolia and Japan
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will pay a five-day visit to Mongolia and Japan from September 5. This will be the first ever visit by an Indian Defense Minister to Mongolia. It will further consolidate defense cooperation and strategic partnership between the two countries. During the visit, Mr. Singh will hold bilateral talks with his Mongolian counterpart, Lieutenant General Saikhanbayar. He will also visit the President of Mongolia, MU Khurelsukh.
India and Mongolia share a strategic partnership and defense is a key pillar. Bilateral defense engagements with Mongolia have expanded over time to include numerous contacts between the two countries, including joint task force meetings, military-to-military exchanges, high-level visits, capacity building and bilateral training and exercises. .
During the bilateral talks, the two defense ministers will review defense cooperation and explore new initiatives to further strengthen bilateral commitments.
In a tweet, Mr Singh said he would also visit Japan to engage with India’s allies and partners. Singh said he would attend the 22nd ministerial-level dialogue in Tokyo. The minister added that India seeks to enhance defense cooperation and advance regional security and stability.
