Explore Scott Tay’s adventures from Mongolia to Uzbekistan in photos

The founder of bespoke travel consultant Beyond Expeditions reflects on his global adventures through six of his favorite travel photos.
Peshawar, Pakistan
Peshawar, the oldest city in Pakistan, is famous for many things including its lamb dishes. In this photo, boys in Peshawari lovingly embrace their lambs. Beautiful.
Kathmandu, Nepal
There are many unsung heroes in the world, quietly doing their jobs and contributing to society. She deserves our gratitude. Please keep Kathmandu clean.
Samarkand, Uzbekistan
The tiling of Shah-i-Zinda, a necropolis in the northeastern part of Samarkand, Uzbekistan, is magnificent and represents one of the oldest continuously constructed historical sites in the world. It started with a simple building over a thousand years ago, with more added up until the 19th century. I captured this image during a moment of solitude.
Meeting her was one of the highlights of my expeditions because of her values and beliefs. I remember her saying to me: “I will always be faithful to my Gypsy roots and I will always help one of my own.
Gobi Desert, Mongolia
It was super heartwarming to see this kind Mongolian grandmother preparing our ger or yurt, a portable, circular dwelling, to keep us warm and toasty when it was -40 degrees Celsius out there in the middle of the Gobi Desert!
Western Mongolia
I took this photo of a Kazakh boy and his golden eagle in Western Mongolia. Seeing them together reminded me of this quote: “We have to rely on each other. There is neither me nor you. It’s us together. Still.”
