International Conference on ESD and CCE supported by UNESCO in Beijing, Mongolia – India Education | Latest Education News | World Education News

Both events aimed to promote the integration of ESD into teacher education, with a particular focus on climate change education (CCE) aligned with the core ESD priority for 2030. The main outcome of the conference was the exchange of best practices in the implementation of the CCESD at the country level. During the conference, more than 33 speakers representing 17 institutions of the Asian Centers of Excellence on ESD network in 9 countries (China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines) discussed current practices and future prospects. of the CCE in teacher training, including the development of modules, training programs, courses and workshops. In addition, students and professors from a local institution presented posters on ESD-related activities.
On the first day of the event, Mr. Robert Parua, UNESCO Beijing Education Program Specialist, delivered the keynote address virtually, saying: “Education is crucial to promoting climate action. It helps people understand and cope with the impacts of the climate crisis, giving them the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to act as agents of change. for the global sustainable development framework for the next 8 years to 2030. UNESCO encourages/supports innovative approaches and enhances non-formal education programs through media, networks and partnerships.“UNESCO Beijing is strongly committed to partnering with ACCU and Okayama University and the UNESCO Chair in ESD to further advance CCE nationally and regionally.
