STA. ROSA, Laguna—It will be the Philippines against Mongolia in the FIBA 3×3 Chooks-To-Go Asia-Pacific Super Quest Championship game as the two teams representing Mongolia are in a semi-final and two Filipino teams are in another at the end of the pool steps Saturday night at Ayala Mall Solenad here.
Zaisan and Sansar staged their semi-final clash after defeating their respective opponents in the last two matches of the preliminary round.
Zaisan ended Melbourne’s unbeaten Pool A run at the worst possible time for the latter with a 21-11 victory.
Ikhbayar Chuluunbaatar and Gan-Erdene Gantsolmon each scored eight points to lead Zaisan.
The result forced a three-way tie for first place with Manila Chooks at 2-1.
After the tiebreaker, Zaisan took the top seed, while Manila sealed the second seed, setting up the all-Filipina semi-final against Pool B’s number one seed Cebu City Chooks with a perfect 3-0 record, in the process.
Sansar booked the final round for the semi-finals with a 15-12 win over Tangerang.
Enkhbaatar Onolbaatar scored seven to lead Sansar, which avoided complications in the process as a victory for Tangerang would have forced a three-way tie for the second seed in Pool B at 1-2.
