President of Mongolia receives Foreign Minister of Japan

AKIPRESS.COM – Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh received Japan’s Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi, who is on an official visit to Mongolia, on May 2, Montsame reports.

President Khurelsukh noted that the visit marks the high-level development of the Mongolia-Japan strategic partnership.

Expressing satisfaction that countries have designated the year 2022 as “the year of friendship and exchange of Mongolian and Japanese children and youth” on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Japan, the President invited His Majesty Emperor Naruhito of Japan to visit Mongolia as part of the anniversary.

Furthermore, the President expressed his gratitude to the Government of Japan for providing assistance and support to overcome the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic with minimum casualties.

The President stressed the need to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in all sectors such as mining, environment, agriculture, tourism, culture and education.

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi said the Government of Japan attaches great importance to its relationship and cooperation with Mongolia and reaffirmed its commitment to pursue development in all aspects.

He also expressed his support for the One Billion Trees movement initiated by the President of Mongolia, and informed that studies are underway on possible ways to provide support and cooperate within its framework.

The parties agreed to fully implement the Mongolia-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement to maintain the frequency of high-level reciprocal visits and expand trade, investment and economic cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the development of trade and people-to-people relations, in particular the increase in exchanges of children and young people, and on issues concerning regional and international situations.
